Guide for teachers

Session 1: Work with the glossary list, let the pupils try to find out which words belong together before showing the correct slide. Let them write down the words before you start the topic.

Session 2: Introduce the learning objectives and talk about what the term “endangered species” mean. Let the pupils write down the explanation of the term. Look at the meaning of the “Extinction risk categories” together. If you have time pupils can work in pairs and use the internet to find out which animals currently belong to which category.

Session 3: Talk to the pupils about why animals become endangered. Make mind maps (individually/ in pairs / small groups with solutions to how we can help. Use the slides about “How can we help” and “Success stories” as background information when going through the mind maps in plenum afterwards.

Session 4: Start the project work: let the pupils work individually or in pairs. Let them make a presentation/ a poster and present it to the rest of the class when it is finished.
